Madison Selectman Makes Decision on Running for Kennedy's Seat
Bruce Wilson has run for 12th District seat twice as GOP candidate and lost to Ted Kennedy, Jr.; will he run again now that Kennedy won't?

MADISON, CT - Madison Board of Selectmen member Bruce Wilson has twiced tried - and twiced failed - to beat the very well known Ted Kennedy, Jr. in 2014 and 2016 in the 12th Senate District seat election.
So, the question remains now that Kennedy has decided not to seek another term this November and candidates starting to position themselves to replace him, will the Republican Wilson try a third time to win the seat.
Reached Monday, Wilson had a succint answer: "I do not plan to run for the Senate seat."

While Wilson may not be running, there has already been lots of activity since Kennedy made his surprise announcement a few weeks ago.
First, State Rep. Sean Scanlon of Guilford, who many speculated would take a shot at the Senate seat, announced he would be sticking with running for another term in the House,

And on Monday, the race got its first official candidate - as Democrat Christine Hunter Cohen of Guilford, owner of Cohen's Bagel Company in Madison, announced she would be running for the seat.
With the difficult to beat Kennedy out of the race, there is expected to be other candidates stepping forward between now and November for the Senate seat, which serves the towns of Madison, Guilford, North Branford, Branford, Durham and Killingworth.
