Madison Seniors Could Be Getting Some Tax Relief

Seniors in Madison may be feeling the relief from a tax freeze that the town's discussing.

Madison, CT - For those Madison seniors struggling financially, a tax freeze could be coming soon.

The town is talking tax assistance for senior citizens that are homeowners and in need of some relief. According to a report in The Madison Source, the Elderly Tax Relief Program/tax freeze would help seniors in the 2017/2018 fiscal year.

The Board of Finance met June 8 and formed a committee to study and evaluate a proposed tax freeze program, The Source reports.

Residents would need to meet age, income, property value and other requirements in order to become part of the program.

The town estimates that about 1,600 households could take part in the proposed program, The Source reports.
