Here is what the students who have organized the rally have to say about the Madison rally on social media.
“Who we are: We are Violence to Voices (VTV), a student-run, student-organized, gun safety advocacy group, comprised of 11 teenagers, ranging from being a freshman to senior in high school. Where we’re from: We are teenagers at Daniel Hand High School in Madison, CT (a town on the CT shoreline, right next to the Long Island Sound) who are part of the national movement to end gun violence everywhere, especially in schools. We are calling for stricter gun control to ensure that no student, teacher, parent, or staff member will be scared to go to school because of the fear of getting shot and killed.

“Over 2,000 schools have already made plans to walkout to call for stricter gun control legislation. April 20 is the 19th anniversary of the Columbine school shooting, and for that reason, this date is extremely important for people to gather together and protest so our voices are heard. Gun control should have been passed the first school shooting, so that is why it is imperative we stand up now and demand action and change from our legislators.”
