Madison Town Officials Close Town Beaches For Swimming, Boating

Madison Town Officials said extensive debris in Long Island Sound from the recent flood have impacted town beaches.

MADISON, CT – Madison Town Officials have closed The Surf Club, West Warf and East Warf for swimming until further notice.

Town officials said that no swimming or boat launching will be allowed at any Town beach until further notice due to extensive debris in Long Island Sound resulting from the recent regional flood.

Officials said parks remain open for land recreation while swimming and boating (kayaks, paddle boards, catamarans) are prohibited.

Town staff will begin debris removal at town facilities on Friday.

Officials said those residents in beach communities should avoid entering the water at this time and take extra precautions when operating watercraft in the area.
