Madison Walkway to Get $400K in Improvements

A grant will be funding $400,000 in improvements to the walkway.

Madison, CT - Madison walkers, joggers, strollers and bicyclists will soon be enjoying a new and improved walkway.

On June 8, the town received a $400,000 grant to renovate the Tuxis Walkway, The Madison Source reports.

The funds will allow the town to update the boardwalk and perform needed maintenance and repairs, The Source reports. The pedestrian pathway will also get an "accentuated entrance."

Gov. Dannel Malloy said in a press release that the grant will allow Madison to make improvements "in order to enhance pedestrian connectivity between the Madison Station area and the Boston Post Road. The project will enhance the safety of pedestrians and encourage rail ridership, while providing pedestrian and bike access to businesses along the Boston Post Road."

The Tuxis Walkway is located between Bradely Road and Boston Post Road.

Repairs and remodeling are expected to be completed by the fall.

The grant is part of Connecticut's Responsible Growth and Transit-Oriented Development Grant Program, administered by the Office of Policy and Management.
