Massachusetts Man Accused Of 2 Commercial Burglaries In Madison: Police

The two burglaries occurred in June at businesses on the Boston Post Road in Madison, according to authorities.

MADISON, CT — A 65-year-old Massachusetts man has been arrested by Madison police in connection with two commercial burglaries that occurred in June.

Robert Bowers was arrested this week on a warrant charging him with:

  • Third-degree burglary, 2 counts
  • First-degree criminal mischief
  • Second-degree criminal mischief

The two burglaries occurred during the overnight hours on June 11 at Petrillo’s Restaurant and Culinary Concepts, both at 51 Boston Post Road.

"Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the affected properties have been secured," said Madison Police Capt. Jeremy Yorke at the time.

Members of the department's Criminal Investigation Division, in cooperation with neighboring law enforcement agencies, were able to identify Bowers as a suspect, in part with the help of newly installed License Plate Reader technology funded by the town.

"This arrest underscores the importance of strong interagency cooperation and the value of technology in modern policing," Yorke said in a statement Friday. "The License Plate Reader system has already proven to be a critical tool in keeping our community safe."

Court information for Bowers was not immediately available.
