Obituary: Elaine Puleo Carter, 77, longtime Madison resident
Elaine was working in the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, and she helped evacuate her whole team before the building collapsed.
Tuesday, September 26, 2023 Elaine Puleo Carter, 77, longtime resident of Madison passed away peacefully at CT Hospice, Branford. Wife of the late Lenny Carter. Elaine was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 2, 1945, daughter of the late Ben Nichols and Florence (Vacca) Nichols. Loving mother to John Puleo and his wife Maria of North Providence, RI. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Stephanie Puleo and Anthony Puleo. Sister of James Nichols and Linda Nichols.
Elaine graduated from Worthington High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University. Before retirement she had worked as a Senior Vice President for Oppenheimer Mutual Funds company for 15 years. She enjoyed her time with family and friends, playing golf and pickleball, yoga, reading and watching Ohio State Football. Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford, CT on Saturday, September 30 at 9 am. Burial will be held privately in New Jersey.
