Put This On Your List Of Things To Do: Help Tracey Find A Kidney Donor For Steve
So he can have more days like this ...
Tracey Johnson's beloved husband, Steve, is currently on dialysis for four hours a day, six days a week.Â
He's waiting for a kidney transplant after having suffered from kidney failure related to childhood diabetes. He needs a live donor with Type A blood, but type O is also compatible, says Tracey, who lives with her family in Guilford.
Here's the deal, most people in good health need only one kidney. And we're born with two. The Johnsons are hoping someone will be willing to "share their spare."Â
Tracey is hoping to find a compatible donor for her husband so that he can watch their daughter walk down the aisle during her wedding in December 2013. And they're also hoping for many, many more days like the one they had yesterday.Â
Read on to find out about their day yesterday, from a story Tracey posted on Facebook, and, immediately below that, how you can help:Â
"We were blessed with a very special day yesterday. As 5 p.m. approached I was getting ready to think about making dinner, walking the dogs, and switching the laundry over. Our daughter Michelle and her fiancé Joe strolled through the back door. Always so great to have them drop by. "Hey you want to have dinner with us?" I asked. I proceeded to prepare the dinner. No walk for the dogs tonight. Steve came down stairs from his rest. As we have the grilled fired up and the steaks are on, our son Steve and his fiancée Christina came walking up the deck! Throw a couple more steaks on the grill! Add a couple more plates! In through the garage door comes our son Tom with a gallon of milk. Thank God! Grab another chair from the dinning room QUICK! And last but NOT least our daughter Amanda enters through the back door. What do they say? Back door guests ARE always the BEST!!! Yes They ARE!!!! Always soooo HAPPY to have all of our children POP Over!! Love those kids!! They are the BEST. I NEVER want to miss a moment of our childrens' lives...Please Share your Spare, or Share Our Story... Thank you and God Bless you All!!!!"
