Editor's Note: An Individual Education Plan (IEP) is a written educational plan for a child with disabilities that is developed and implemented with the help of a Planning and Placement Team (PPT). Knowing how to navigate the "special education" maze can be confusing. This workshop is designed to help parents with that process.

On Monday, March 18th, 2013, KIDSTEPS and the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven on the Shoreline will host a free workshop to help parents maximize their advocacy efforts in the special education maze.  The event will be held at 7 p.m. at the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven Shoreline Office located at 705 Boston Post Road in Lighthouse Square, Guilford, CT.

Special Education and Disability Law Attorney Lawrence Berliner and Education Consultant Jacquie Jewett, will present this hands on workshop, and guide parents in (1) learning how to navigate special education law issues, (2) making the IEP a framework for success –with emphasis on the annual PPT  (3) measuring your child’s year –to –date progress and (4) discovering strategies in overcoming your child’s learning challenges  - including the use of technology.
