State: Madison Schools Get Passing Grade

Schools now out from under state microscope.

MADISON--Madison public schools are officially sanction free.

The state withdrew sanctions placed by the state education commissioner, according to The Madison Source. The sanctions were for low state test participation rates.

Due to parent opt-out, Madison had a 77% participation rate, instead of the state-required 95%, for standardized tests, The Source reports.

The district could have lost $90K in federal money, its ranking and budget exemptions, Education Commissioner Dianna Wentzell had told Superintendent of Schools Tom Scarice, the report states.
