Swimming At 3 Shoreline Parks Reopens

Swimming at three parks had been shut down due to high bacteria counts.

The swimming areas at all three shoreline state parks – Hammonasset in Madison, eastern portion of Rocky Neck in East Lyme and Silver Sands in Milford, are reopen after tests on Friday showed that bacteria counts were now in the acceptable range.

The three areas had been shut down on Thursday after tests had high bacteria counts.

The waters were retested on Friday, and the results showed the areas are now safe for swimming, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) said Saturday.
