The Week Ahead: Food Trucks, Health Care, Scrabble Time, Family Portraits And More

Monday: 

Food trucks will be among the topics of discussion at the Madison Board of Selectmen meeting Monday night. To find out why, check out our earlier story.

The Madison Chamber of Commerce has sent out a reminder that "Health Care Reform: What You Need To Know NOW" will be the topic of discussion 
Monday, July 22nd at 2pm at the Scranton Memorial Library. "Join health care process expert Randi Oster, of Empowered Patients Improved Outcomes™, as she explains the new regulations & answers such questions as:
 
·  What are the top 10 changes I need to know about?
·  When is this all taking place?
·  How much will the new insurance cost?
·  Will I qualify for health insurance premium subsidies?
·  Does my business have to offer me insurance?
·  What happens if I am already covered?
·  Will my Medicare deduction change?
·  How do I know which is the best hospital in my area?
·  How can I stay current?"

Get a family photo portrait, and help out the Strong House Adult Day Center. Find out more at this link. 

At the Scranton Memorial Library, children can go on an adventure with the Short Tail Shrew, teen volunteers will be hosting a dog-themed story time program, and bring your friends or meet new ones of all ages at the library's Scrabble Time

Wednesday: 


There will be a Dig Into Reading Concert.

Tech Support for Seniors will take place at the Senior Center. This highly acclaimed program pairs seniors with tech-savvy partners to solve common problems related to Internet and computer troubles. 

The Dinosaur Club will be meeting at the library

Also at the library, "Authors Elizabeth Essex and Karen Olsen at the Scranton Library. Elizabeth Essex, author of Almost a Scandal , A Breath of Scandal and coming soon, Scandal in the Night ~ AND ~ Karen Olsen, author of the Tattoo Shop Mysteries series and the Annie Seymour Mysteries series, are coming to the Scranton Library.  Join these two acclaimed authors as they discuss and read from their books, the process of writing and the realities of the publishing world.  A question and answer period will follow the presentations. Books will be available for sale and signing. Wednesday, July 24th at 3 pm. FREE.

And, if you want to get out of town, you can drive to Farmington for "Sunken Garden Poetry Presents Richard Blanco." 

Thursday

The sidewalk sales start in Madison and Guilford. Check out our earlier story for all of the details. The sidewalk sales will run Thursday through Sunday in Madison, and Thursday through Saturday in Guilford. If you live in Madison or Guilford and want to support your local merchants, be sure to share our story on the sidewalk sales so all of your friends who live in other towns will come and support our locals.
