From local fields to national fame, these stars got their start in Madison.

Sports run deep in Madison, and Daniel Hand High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Tiger uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Daniel Hand High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.
1. Jack Driscoll – NFL Offensive Lineman (Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins)
A standout at Daniel Hand, Driscoll played both offensive tackle and defensive end in high school. He captained the team as MVP in his senior year, then played collegiately at UMass and Auburn before being drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020. Currently on the Eagles roster, he won Super Bowl LIX in February 2025. (Source: WFSB)
2. Joe Trapani – Professional Basketball Player
Trapani, a standout basketball player from Daniel Hand High School, went on to earn All-ACC honors at Boston College after starting his collegiate career at the University of Vermont. Known for his scoring and rebounding, Trapani consistently ranked among conference leaders and collected multiple All-District and All-Rookie accolades. (Source: BC Eagles)

3. Jim Bell – Professional Running Back (Barcelona Dragons, Birmingham Fire – WLAF)
Bell starred as a running back at DHHS in the early 1980s and then played collegiate football at Boston College. He went on to play professionally from 1991 to 1992 in the World League of American Football (WLAF) for the Barcelona Dragons and Birmingham Fire. (Source: StatsCrew.com)
4. Kristen Frost – National‑Level Swimmer & NCAA Standout
An undefeated high school swimmer, Frost was a 15‑time high school All‑American at DHHS and a four‑time National High School Swimmer of the Year. She continued her swimming career at Southern Connecticut State University, where she became a multiple-time NCAA Division II champion and set numerous records. (Source: SCSUOwls)

5. Stephen Parri – All-New England Soccer Forward (UConn Commit)
A 1988 Daniel Hand graduate, Parri was a four-year varsity starter, Conference MVP and First Team All-New England selection who helped lead the program to its first-ever win over Guilford. Recruited by UConn, his college career was cut short by a career-ending injury in his debut match. (Source: Madison Hall of Fame)
