UConn Med Student, Madison Native Bikes 3,500 Miles For Charity

Emily Wilkins made the trek to raise money for charity.

Madison, CT - Starting in June and finishing at the end of July, Madison native and student Emily Wilkins raised some serious funds for a worthy cause.

After biking 3,500 miles across the country, from Seattle, Washington to Madison, CT, the UConn School of Medicine student raised $13,000 for the 11th annual Coast To Coast For A Cause ride, The Madison Source reports.

Wilkins, a Brown University grad, raised funds to benefit The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, according to the Source.

According to The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp's website: "The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was founded in 1988 by Paul Newman with one simple premise in mind: that every child, no matter their illness, could experience the transformational spirit and friendships that go hand-in-hand with camp."
