
Update: Inmate Beyus, Lori #347491 has been apprehended following a walk away from York Correctional Institution early this morning.  A full scale search and investigation by multiple public safety agencies/departments resulted in this successful apprehension just twelve hours after the reported walk away.  At approximately 5:40pm, information from an outside source was relayed to investigators that the offender was seen on Connecticut Route 95. Correctional Officer search teams as well as Connecticut State Police were immediately deployed to this possible location. At 6:15pm, the offender was secured and placed in police custody. Inmate Beyus has been returned to DOC custody at the York Correctional Institution.Â
Original Post: A full scale search is underway for a female inmate who escaped from the York Correctional Institution in Niantic early on Sunday morning. At approximately 6:16am the facility was placed in lock down and an emergency count was ordered when correctional officers reported that an inmate was missing during breakfast in the facility dining hall. The offender, identified as Lori Beyus, #347491, age 49, is from Torrington, CT. Beyus last entered the system on November 2, 2012 as a temporary surrender for the charge of Robbery 2nd. She is currently serving a 51 month sentence. The escape is considered a walk away as Beyus was housed on the minimum security side of the facility, which is not totally secured by a fence. Emergency notification to local and state officials and members of the public was early Sunday morning via the State’s CT Alert system. Anyone with information about this inmate is asked to notify state or local police.
