10th annual Manchester Jazz Fest coming on December 6-7

Organizers are pulling out all of the stops: special two-day fest will feature over 50 artists "live" at historic Cheney Hall

The organizers of this year's Manchester Jazz Fest are pulling out all the stops to celebrate its 10th anniversary with a special two-day event featuring eight groups with over 50 singers and instrumentalists. The fest will be held on Saturday, December 6 at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 7 at 1 p.m. "live" at historic Cheney Hall, 177 Hartford Road, the oldest continuously operating theater in Connecticut dating back to 1867. In recent years, the event has sold out, so the public is encouraged to purchase tickets sooner rather than later. General admission tickets are $40 for one day, $70 for both days; VIP tickets are $80 for one day, $140 for both days. Tickets are available online at www.ManchesterCTJazzFest.com.

Emceeing the Manchester Jazz Fest on both days will be Chuck Obuchowski, a graduate of Manchester High School and long-time on-air host and jazz director at WWUH 91.3 FM radio at the University of Hartford. Saturday's musical lineup includes the Hall High School Jazz Combo, Jonathan Barber & Vision Ahead, Vanisha Gould Quartet, and Liviu Pop Group. Sunday's musical lineup includes The Good Vibes Fellowship, Grass Routes Bluegrass, The Hall Monitors, and Dan Pugach Big Band.

The Manchester Jazz Fest is sponsored by Beth Sholom B'nai Israel (BSBI) of Manchester. Dr. Ken Wichman, Festival Director, is the founder of the festival. He is a lifetime resident of Manchester who practiced Podiatry for decades and is known for his long-time community involvement. Alex Nakhimovsky is the event's Co-Founder and Musical Director. He has performed around the world and has been a full-time faculty member of the Greater Hartford Academy for the Arts and adjunct faculty at the Hartt School of Music, Connecticut College and Sacred Heart University.
