MANCHESTER, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation Wednesday announced that deck rehabilitation work that extends to various bridges on Interstate 384 in Manchester and Bolton has begun.

This project includes the rehabilitation of 19 bridges and was initiated by DOT to "address maintenance and longevity."

The bridge decks will be of stripped of worn-out surfaces, concrete decks will be patched, membrane waterproofing will be applied and a new overlay of asphalt pavement will be installed.

The bridges included in the project include:

  • Bridge 03590 | Garner Street over I-384
  • Bridge 03591 | I-384 westbound over Birch Mountain Brook
  • Bridge 03592 | I-384 eastbound over Birch Mountain Brook
  • Bridge 03593 | Wyllys Street over I-384
  • Bridge 03594 | I-384 westbound over State Road 534
  • Bridge 03595 | I-384 eastbound over State Road 534 (3 lanes)

The work, officially CTDOT Project No. 0076-0227, was awarded to Mohawk Northeast at a cost of $17,322,640.94 on Dec. 5, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed on Nov. 30, 2026.

There will be lane closures on various state roads, town roads, and on I-384 from Sunday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Traffic control signing patterns, flaggers, and uniformed police officers will guide motorists through the work zone.

Modifications or extensions to the schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.DOT officials said.

"Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area," DOT officials said.
