Driver Blames Car 'Issues' For 119 MPH Escapade In Manchester
A driver from Glastonbury went on a speeding spree in Manchester, state police said.

MANCHESTER, CT — A Glastonbury man said he was having car "issues" that caused him to speed through a section of highway in Manchester at 119 mph, state police said.
At 3:29 p.m. Sunday, state police from Troop H were conducting a motor vehicle enforcement detail on Interstate 384 east, in the area of Exit 3 in Manchester.
Troopers were utilizing a speed laser when they observed a Volkswagen Golf traveling in the right-center lane, much faster than the flow of traffic, state police said.

The Volkswagen then made an immediate lane change, cut in front of another vehicle in the left center lane and was clocked at 119 mph in the posted 65 mph zone, according to an incident report.
The trooper then conducted a motor vehicle stop on the vehicle and identified the operator as a 32-year-old Glastonbury man, according to an incident report. He told the trooper stopping him that he was having "issues" with his car and that was the reason for his speed.

The man transported to Troop H where he was charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain the proper lane. He was later released on a $1,500 bond and is awaiting a court date of May 23, records show.
