BOLTON, CT — Bolton Notch is known for its history and recreation, but it is also the home of one of north central Connecticut's most unique culinary experiences.

Welcome to Charhause, a gluten-free micro-bakery and cafe. It's tucked into an end unit of a strip plaza at the Notch — 299 Boston Turnpike.

Before anyone asks, let's set the stage. Yes ... everything is gluten-free (but most would never know, the chef says).

According to the Charhause website, the business has its roots with a few macarons in the owner's kitchen, a respite from a corporate job. People loved them and the rest is history.

The menu includes breakfast sandwiches, sides. ever-changing cookies, pastries and coffee and non-coffee beverages.
