Manchester Fire Department Responds to Reported Explosion at Manchester Memorial Hospital
Firefighters were dispatched at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Firefighters reported to Manchester Memorial Hospital on Thursday night for a fire alarm activation in the boiler plant and a reported explosion.
They were dispatched at approximately 10:30 p.m., said Manchester Fire Chief David Billings.

According to Billings, there was no smoke or fire upon arrival, and firefighters verified that nobody was inside the boiler plant.
Billings said that the high-pressure steam line above the boilers ruptured and that an on-duty facility engineer had used the emergency shutdown prior to the arrival of the fire department.

The hospital was without hot water or heat overnight but repairs were made on Friday.
The Journal Inquirer reported that some surgeries had to be moved or postponed because of the incident.
