Using a piece of clothing worn by the child the night before, Dakota picked up the scent and led officers outside to a different nearby complex, police said. Dakota led officers to the third floor, where the child was found safe and unharmed, wandering inside, police said.
"We’re relieved and grateful to report that the young child was safely reunited with her mom," police said. "And as you can see in the photo, K9 Dakota got to enjoy his favorite reward — a well-earned ball— for a job well done."
