Manchester Resident Killed In Rollover Crash On Interstate 91
The man was killed as a result of injuries sustained in a crash Tuesday afternoon in Windsor Locks, according to state police.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — A significant portion of Interstate 91 southbound was closed for several hours Tuesday afternoon after a fatal crash in Windsor Locks.
According to a state police report, around 1:18 p.m., a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck veered off the right shoulder into a grassy area between exits 42 and 41. It re-entered the right lane of the highway and struck a 2024 Toyota Tacoma, causing the truck to roll over into the grassy area.
The pickup truck operator, James MacPherson, 38, of Manchester, was taken to Hartford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A passenger in the truck, a 37-year-old woman from Florida, was treated at the hospital for minor injuries, state police said.

The operator of the Toyota, a 27-year-old man from Vermont, was not injured and refused medical treatment at the scene, state police said.
I-91 southbound was closed between exits 41 and 40 because of the crash, and several hours after the crash, vehicles were backed up to between exits 46 and 47 in Enfield.

Secondary roads were also affected. The exit 46 off-ramp to Route 5 was backed up onto the highway and cars were crawling on Route 5 itself.
Route 140 heading west was bumper-to-bumper from Sofia's Plaza in East Windsor to the Connecticut River bridge into Windsor Locks.
