Manchester Road Race Officials: Get A Bib For Food Insecurity
Manchester Road Race officials have issued message about bibs and deadlines.

MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester Road Race organizers are hoping that all of their breakfast guests will be wearing bibs this Thanksgiving morning.
And the feasting will benefit two major food banks.
Food insecurity in Connecticut is the charitable focus of the road race committee this year, and MRR officials are urging everyone who runs in the road race to lend support by officially entering and purchasing a bib.

"We are donating our unallocated proceeds after expenses this year to Connecticut Foodshare and the MACC Charities emergency food pantry," Road race committee president Dr. Tris Carta said. "We are hoping that everyone who runs on Thanksgiving Day will help us to feed our neighbors in the community by purchasing a bib."
The 89th Manchester Road Race will be staged held on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27 this year) at 10 a.m. The race, which attracts upwards of 11,000 entrants — including some of the world’s best long-distance competitors — is run on a 4.737-mile loop course through central Manchester that starts and finishes on Main Street in front of St. James Church.

To begin the week, 6,644 entrants have signed up for the annual run, which is considered one of America's oldest and most popular Turkey Day events.
The event is organized by more than 400 volunteers of the Manchester Road Race Committee, with support from the Town of Manchester. The Principal Sponsors of this year’s road race are Hartford HealthCare, Hoffman Lexus, Orthopedic Associates of Hartford and Pratt& Whitney.
