O'Connor Retiring; DiFalco Named New Chamber President

Longtime Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Sue O'Connor is stepping aside. She will be replaced by April DiFalco, the Chamber's current Director of Membership Services.

The following is a press release from the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

The Executive Board of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce has announced that GMCC President Sue O’Connor  will be retiring from the Chamber later this summer and has named the Chamber’s Director of Membership Services, April DiFalco, her  successor.

O’Connor has served as GMCC President for the past nine years. She and her husband, Jerry,  will relocate to Nashville, TN to be closer to  family.  O’Connor, who resides in Manchester, has been with the Chamber since 1994, starting as the Administrative Assistant, moving on to Membership Services, Vice President,  and was named President in 2004.

In announcing the changes, GMCC Chairman of the Board Tom Machuga praised O’Connor  for her years of  dedicated service and Chamber leadership.

“Over the last nine years  Sue  has transformed the Manchester Chamber, bringing a clearer focus to its mission and goals, and greatly expanding the programs and services that benefit both our members and the Town of Manchester overall.”

Machuga, owner of Machuga Financial Services  also noted  O’Connor’s role in the Chamber’s remarkable growth and emphasized that Chamber members, and the citizens of Manchester can count on an unbroken continuation of current Chamber programs and initiatives.

“Sue and April have been a great team the past  nine years, and while we’re very sorry to be losing Sue  – she will be greatly missed – we feel we are fortunate to have someone with April’s experience and talents who can step in without missing a beat. The Board is confident that under April’s  leadership the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce will continue in its broad-ranging efforts to make Manchester an even better place to live, work, and do business.”

Earlier in her career DiFalco  worked in social services.  She  joined the Manchester  Chamber of Commerce in 2004, as Administrative Assistant, was quickly promoted to Programs & Events Coordinator, named Director of Membership Services in 2009, and has continued to assume additional responsibilities. She lives in Vernon  with her  husband, Joe, and daughter, Alex.
