Parking Ban Starts In Manchester — In Time For 1st Real Snowfall
Violators of the winter parking ban could be fined, Manchester officials said.

MANCHESTER, CT — The first significant snowfall of the season has coincided with the winter parking ban in Manchester.
The ban went into effect this week and runs through April 1.
During the period, overnight parking is not allowed on public streets or municipal parking lots between the hours of 2 and 6 a.m.

Plows were on the streets overnight Wednesday into Thursday as snow blanketed north central Connecticut, thanks to a fast-moving clipper system.
"Parked vehicles are one of the biggest obstacles to effective snow removal," town officials said. "Please support our efforts by parking your vehicle in conformance with the winter parking ban."

Anyone violating this ordinance shall be fined $15, town officials said.
The chief of police may also declare a parking ban if "a significant snow event is forecast or in progress," town officials said.
Residents should remove vehicles from the street during a snowstorm, they added.
