Teen Driver From Manchester Summoned Home, Charged After High-Speed Antics In Rocky Hill
A teen driver from Manchester is facing a number of charges after some high-speed highway antics, state police said.

MANCHESTER, CT — A teen driver from Manchester is facing a number of charges after some high-speed highway antics, state police said
The incident unraveled at 10:34 Wednesday, when a trooper was patrolling Interstate 91 southbound near exit 24 in Rocky Hill, according to an arrest report.
The trooper observed a gray Toyota Corolla sedan traveling at a rate of speed in the right lane of four and accelerated to catch up at 118 mph in a posted 65 mph zone, according to an arrest report.

The trooper activated his emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver refused to comply and continued to accelerate, weaving in and out of heavy traffic, forcing the trooper to break off the pursuit.
The trooper obtained the vehicle's registration plate prior to disengaging, and a visit was paid to the Manchester address to which it was registered, according to an arrest report.

A family member told police the teen was indeed driving the car at the time.
State police called the driver, summoned him home and he was arrested upon arrival.
Nicholas Rodrigue, 18, was then transported to the Troop H barracks, where he was charged with reckless driving, disobeying the signal of an officer, failure to maintain the proper lane on a highway, interfering with police and first-degree reckless endangerment, according to an arrest report.
A person on the phone with Rodrigue at the time of the pursuit told state police about hearing a police siren in the background and urging Rodrigue to pull over, according to an arrest report. The person told state police Rodrigue refused to do so, according to an arrest report.
