Toppled Light Pole Leaves Path Of Misery On Highway In Manchester

Holiday accidents included a car taking out a light pole in Manchester, fire officials said.

MANCHESTER, CT — A car took out a highway light stanchion and then left a path of misery behind it in Manchester, fire officials said.

Manchester fire officials said that, just before 8 on Thanksgiving night, crews responded to the eastbound side of Interstate 84 in the area of exit 63 for a single-car accident. A car had veered off the pavement and toppled a light pole after slamming into it, fire officials said.

One person was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, fire officials said.

But that wasn't all of it. Several other vehicles sustained tire damage from debris in the road as a result of the crash, fire officials said. The pole landed on top of the car and was partially in the road and the light was shattered, images from thew scene show.

A crew from the Connecticut Department of Transportation responded to clean up the mess and repair the pole.
