Willimantic Man Convicted In Manchester Sex Assault Case ​

A jury has delivered a verdict in a Manchester sex assault case.

MANCHESTER, CT — A Willimantic man has been convicted in a Manchester sex assault case.

Hartford Judicial District State’s Attorney, Sharmese L. Walcott announced Friday that a jury in Hartford Superior Court has found Jorge Grados, 43, of Willimantic, guilty of two counts of sexual assault in the second degree, one count of illegal sexual contact with a victim younger than 16 and one count of sexual assault in the fourth degree.

According to evidence introduced at the trial, the victim, now an adult, reported to the Manchester Police Department that several sexual assaults by Grados took place between 2012 and 2015. The victim was between 12 and 15 at the time, according to case records.

Grados was the boyfriend of the victim's mother at the time, according to case records. The victim reported that the sexual assaults took place at night when the mom was asleep, according to case records.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Stacey Cox and Deputy Assistant State’s Attorney Whitney Lorello, with the assistance of Inspector Luis Rodriguez, and Paralegal Specialist Lakisha Malave.

Judge Michael J. Gustafson presided over the trial.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 16 in Hartford Superior Court.
