Woman, 20, Struck by Pickup While Crossing Street Near Buckland Hills Mall

A 20-year-old woman was struck by a pickup truck Tuesday afternoon while crossing the street near the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road and Buckland Street, according to a Hartford Courant report citing Manchester Police for its information.
The accident, which occurred at about 4 p.m., congested traffic during the evening rush hour when several lanes of Pleasant Valley Road were closed and Buckland Street was closed at the South Windsor-Manchester border as police responded to the incident, the NBC Connecticut television station reported.
An ambulance took Liandra Sherise Rivera of Forrest Street in Hartford to Hartford Hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Courant and NBC Connecticut reports.

She was struck by a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, which remained at the scene, parked about 15 feet from a crosswalk, according to the NBC Connecticut report.
The police Traffic Unit is investigating the incident. Anyone with information about it is asked to call Officer Aaron Calkins at 860-645-5560.
