Gampel Renovations Prompt Cancellation Of UConn Preseason Hoop Event
UConn has scrapped a traditional preseason basketball event for 2025.
STORRS, CT — There will be no First Night festivities for the University of Connecticut basketball programs this fall.
UConn's athletic department released the following statement Friday:
"Due to ongoing renovations at Gampel Pavilion designed to enhance the game day experience, UConn's annual First Night basketball event will not be held in 2025.

First Night is a traditional, preseason event that features tailgating, fan festivities and a scrimmage.
