UConn basketball is returning to the Big East and an official announcement will likely be made this upcoming week, according to a news report in The Connecticut Post.
An NCAA source confirmed the news to the news publication.
According to the report, the school's football program would either become independent or join another conference.

UConn issued the following statement to the Post in light of the news:
"It is our responsibility to always be mindful of what is in the best interest of our student athletes, our fans and our future. With that being said, we have been and remain proud members of the American Athletic Conference."
