Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Crash With SUV: Meriden Police

Police said the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

MERIDEN, CT — A motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash Monday morning in Meriden, police said in an update.

Police responded around 10:40 a.m. on July 28 to the 700 block of East Main Street on the report of a crash involving a motorcyclist and a car.

Initial reports indicated that the motorcyclist had been thrown from his motorcycle and was laying in the roadway, according to police.

Arriving officers found an orange Honda motorcycle on its side, in the middle of the roadway, and facing east, according to police.

Police said the motorcyclist was found near the motorcycle.

Officers were also able to find a white Honda CRV that had been involved in the crash and had backed up into the McDonald’s parking lot, according to police.

The driver of the CRV remained at the scene and was cooperative, police said.

The motorcyclist was taken to Hartford Hospital, where police said he was in intensive care with serious injuries. Immediate family members have been notified of the accident, according to police.

“The initial investigation revealed that the white Honda CRV exited the McDonald’s parking lot, failing to yield to oncoming Eastbound traffic,” police wrote in a news release. “The operator of the motorcycle did not have enough time to stop or avoid the accident and ultimately collided with the front fender of the Honda CRV.”

East Main Street has reopened, according to officials.

(Original post) MERIDEN, CT — Crews are investigating a crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle in the 700 block of East Main Street in Meriden, according to police.

Lt. Darrin McKay said LifeStar was put on standby and asked to stage at an area hospital.

No further information was immediately available.

City officials said East Main Street is closed between Williams Street and Gravel Street due to the crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle near McDonald's.
