Man Charged In Sexual Assault Of Minor: Meriden Police
Police said the man was arrested again in connection with a follow-up to an original investigation that "uncovered multiple victims."
MERIDEN, CT — A man has been arrested again in connection with a sexual assault investigation in Meriden, according to police.
The Meriden Police Department Special Crimes Unit began an investigation into a possible sexual assault of a child on Aug. 31, 2023, according to Lt. Darrin McKay.
McKay said the investigation “uncovered multiple victims” and resulted in previous arrests of 35-year-old Winal Diaz.

“Additional information was discovered as part of the original investigation,” McKay wrote in a news release. “After additional follow up and a thorough investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Winal.”
Winal was arrested March 25 and charged with second-degree sexual assault with a victim 13-15 years old and illegal sexual contact under 16.

Winal was held in lieu of a $75,000 bond.

It is the policy of the Meriden Police Department to fully investigate every allegation of crimes against children that is brought to our organization.”
