Meriden Police Blotter: Thefts and a Serious Assault

In a busy week for Meriden police, officers reported a variety of arrests including second-degree assaults, thefts and more. take a look back at the latest arrest logs.

The Meriden Police Department reported the following arrests:

July 21

Justin Joseph Theriault, no age given, of 158 Round Hill Road in Meriden, was charged with misuse of marker plates, July 21.

Ronald Castagna, no age given, of 240 E. Main St. in Meriden, was charged with breach of peace and third-degree criminal mischief, July 21.

July 22

Nicolae Chirila, 39, of 164 Bunker Ave. in Meriden, was charged with second-degree failure to appear, July 22.

Gregory Overton, 39, of 164 Bunker Ave. in Meriden, was charged with interfering with a police officer and breach of peace, July 22.

Daniel Byrd, 22, of 36 Twiss St. in Meriden, was charged with second-degree assault, first-degree unlawful restraint and interfering with an emergency call, July 22.

Jonathan Cosme, 31, of 27 Lourdes Court in Meriden, was charged with second-degree breach of peace, second-degree threatening, driving too close and operating a motor vehicle without a license, July 22.

Stanley Raymond Haig, 50, of 124 Atkins St. in Meriden, was charged with second-degree criminal trespassing, third-degree larceny, first-degree criminal mischief and possession of burglar tools, July 22.

July 23

Michael Lepak, 30, of 55 Main St. in Middletown, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under suspension, evading responsibility in an accident, traveling too fast for conditions and making an improper lane change, July 23.

Anthony Tobias, 23, of 525 Crown St. in Meriden, was charged with fifth-degree larceny, July 23.

Angel L. Acevedo, 23, of 122 Cook Ave. in Meriden, was charged with first-degree failure to appear and second-degree failure to appear, July 23.

Titus A. Cooper, 20, of 35 Hillside Ave. in Meriden, was charged with failure to have front license plate, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle under suspension, misuse of plates and possession of marijuana, July 23.

Michael Shay Brown, 42, of 182 Cook Ave. in Meriden, was charged with possession of narcotics, sale of narcotics and sale of narcotics in a school zone, July 23.

Heather Heriot, 27, of 24 Tremper Drive in Wallingford, was charged with two counts of violation of probation, July 23.

Ouafaa Kouhaila, 37, of 23 Converse Circle in Meriden, was charged with sixth-degree larceny, July 23.

  • Five people were cited with speeding/traveling too fast.
  • Four people were cited with failure to obey stop sign/traffic signal.
  • Three people were cited with simple trespassing.
  • Three people were cited with operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
  • Two people were cited with violation of park curfew.
  • Two people were cited with cell phone violations.
  • Two people were cited with operating a motor vehicle without a license.
  • Two people were cited with unsafe backing/following too close.
  • Two people were cited with failure to drive in proper lane.
  • One person was cited with failure to renew registration.
  • One person was cited with possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana.
  • One person was cited with operating a motor vehicle under suspension
  • One person was cited with creating a public disturbance.
