Obituary: Barbara M. Mierzejewski, 90, of Meriden
Barbara worked in the housekeeping department at the Silver Springs Care Center and was a member and volunteer at the St. Stanislaus Church.
MERIDEN, CT - (From Meriden Memorial Funeral Home) Barbara M. Mierzejewski, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 28, 2021 at her home.
She was the beloved wife and best friend of Leonard J. Mierzejewski, Sr. her loving husband of 65 years.
Born on July 10, 1931, she was the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Koczak) Nowak. Barbara was a lifelong resident of Meriden and graduate of Meriden High School, Class of 1949.
Barbara worked in the Housekeeping Department at Silver Springs Care Center from where she retired. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church.
Barbara was a member of the Church Choir and volunteered at St. Stanislaus School and Church.
Barbara and Leonard faithfully went to church weekly at the St. Stanislaus Chapel. The couple were recipients of the Archdiocese award, the Medal of St. Joseph.
She was also a member of the Council of Catholic Women. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be greatly missed.
Her grandchildren will especially miss her ice cream floats, her luscious macaroni and cheese, and that "certain" smile she had which let them know she understood what was going on in their lives and in the world at large without ever saying a word.
She is survived by her children: Leonard J. Mierzejewski, Jr. and his wife Ada of Meriden, Lisa Mierzejewski of Rockfall, John Mierzejewski of Middletown: ten grandchildren: Bobbi Jo, Amanda, Christina, Alexander, Sarrah, Andrew, Rebecca, Michael, Therese, Bernadette; three great grandchildren: Olivia, Joseph, Emma; two sisters: Sandra Gilmore, Patricia Mierzejewski and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Monday August 2nd at 10:30 a.m. from the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Stanislaus Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home.
