Obituary: Carmen Diaz, 66, Of Meriden

She lit up the room she walked into with her contagious smile & aura. She was a courageous woman who took life head on & overcame obstacles.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Carmen Diaz, 66, of Meriden, went home peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2024.

Carmen was born in the Bronx, NY, August 28, 1957, a daughter of the late Plutarco Diaz and Angela Vazquez.

Known as Nena to those close to her. She attended school in Puerto Rico where she then became a young mother at the age of 16. She moved to the United States in the early 1980's where her family continued to grow.

Living in Connecticut for over 35 years, she was a lunch lady at Broadview Middle School in Danbury. After becoming disabled and unable to work, she continued to live her life to the fullest.

She loved music, dancing and spending time with family. She enjoyed caring and raising her grandchildren. She lit up the room she walked into with her contagious smile and aura. She was a courageous woman who took life head on and overcame many obstacles.

Carmen is predeceased by her brother Miguel Angel Rivera. She is survived by her children, Sandra Lopez, Jose Rivera and Samuel Diaz; her grandchildren, Antonio Rivera, Angelica Rivera, Samuel Diaz Jr., Donovan Young, Jordan Diaz and Emani Ford; her siblings, Gladys Diaz, Cruz Diaz, Leticia Diaz, Reinaldo Diaz, Jose Diaz, Ernesto Diaz, Daniel Diaz, Edwin Diaz and Robert Diaz; and many nieces and nephews.
