Obituary: Jean G. Belanger, 84, of Meriden

Jean was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

MERIDEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Jean G. Belanger, 84, of Meriden, died Friday, July 30, 2021 at his home.

He was the beloved husband of Claudette (Richard) Belanger for 61 years.

Jean was born in Quebec, Canada, April 15, 1937, a son of the late Joseph and Antoinette (Halle) Belanger.

In addition to his wife Claudette, Jean is survived by his sons Martin (Cindy Bess), Daniel (Dodi Stout), grandchildren Nathen, Nicholas and his wife Stephanie Meyer.

Also, Jean’s surviving brothers and sisters: Andre (Yvan Nadeau), Gervais (Louisette Rodrigue), Agathe (Gaston Gagnon), Richard (Helen Couture), Louisette (Etienne Rothe), Martine (Dennis LeDuc), and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by brothers Benoit, Pierre and Roman. Also, Debbie Rancourt, the grandchildren’s mother.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Franciscan Home Care for their compassionate care of Jean in the final days, also to Dr. Gerald Fumo for his kind care and expertise in battling cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 14th at 10 am, directly at Holy Angels Church, 585 Main St., Meriden, CT 06451. A recording of the mass will be available online by the evening of August 14th.

Interment will be in Lambton, Quebec at the St. Vital Church Cemetery. Gifts in his memory may be sent to Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care, Meriden, CT (www.franciscanHC.org).
