Obituary: Josue 'Jay-J' Medina Jr., 21, of Meriden

Jay-J, known for his sense of humor and loveable personality, cherished basketball, baseball, dancing and spending time with his family.

MERIDEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Josue “Jay-J” Medina Jr., 21, of Meriden, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 18, 2021.

Jay-J was born in Meriden, April 26, 1999, and was raised in Meriden and Brooklyn, NY.

He loved to play baseball and basketball but his greatest passion and enjoyment came from dancing and spending time with his family.

He was outgoing, loveable and his sense of humor always created laughter and fun.

He will be forever missed by his mother Erica Lopez and her companion, Angel “Pops” Hiraldo; his biological father, Josue Medina; his children, Journey and Josiah Medina; his siblings, Elias Medina, Lebron Jenkins and Lenaisjah Medina; his maternal grandparents, Leesett Rosado, Antonio Rosado, and Daniel Lopez; his paternal grandmother, Margarita Colon; his great grandparents, Carmen Maldonado and Ana Ocasio; many aunts and uncles, including: Stephanie Valentin, Lizbeth Soto, Mercy Rosado, Gina Santiago, Frank Lopez, Daniel Lopez, and “Little Tony” Rosado; his godparents, Aida Bonilla and Susan Velez; cousins by the dozen; and countless extended family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his brother Alex Medina and stepfather, Desmond Jenkins.

Jay-J’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Thursday, March 25th, from 4 to 7 pm.

A graveside service will be held on Friday at 12 pm. directly at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Old Colony Rd., Meriden. COVID precautions will be followed and masks required at all services.
