Obituary: Katherine E. Hargett, 37, Of Meriden

She was a nurse in the Emergency Department at the West Haven VA Hospital. She will be greatly missed by both patients and staff.

MERIDEN, CT — (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home): In Meriden, April 28, 2024, Katherine E. Hargett, 37, of Meriden. Beloved daughter of Peter N. and Elizabeth A. Noffsinger Hargett, Loving sister of Gary Jason Parker (Heather) of Meriden.

Also survived by her maternal grandfather George Richard Noffsinger, an uncle Glenn Noffsinger (Lynn) and aunt Susan Mackay (James) a niece and nephew Emalee and Matthew Parker, maternal uncle Paul Hargett and aunt Lisa Hargett Byrne, great aunt Alice Merlone and multiple cousins and great nieces and nephews. Katherine was born in New Haven February 23, 1987.

She was a nurse in the Emergency Department at the West Haven VA Hospital. Katherine loved her work with U.S. Military Veterans at the VA Hospital in West Haven. She will be greatly missed by both patients and staff.

In 2018, Katherine was awarded the Florence Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing.

Katie also loved to travel. Her earliest venture from home without her parents was as an Ambassador with People to People, flying to Europe as a 16-year-old. Other travels included twice to Spain, as student and as a nanny, Iceland, Aruba, again to Spain with Family and a family trip to Disney World. Katie was very happy that she was able to Italy with her parents in May 2023 to spend time together.
