MERIDEN, CT - (From Meriden Memorial Funeral Home) Laura M. (Wetmore) Moran, 77, loving wife for 50 years to George T. Moran, passed away peacefully in her sleep near her husband on Sunday, September 19, 2021 in the comfort of her home.

Laura was born in West Haven, on June 28, 1944, a daughter of the late Leroy T. and Alice Wetmore.

She was a resident of Meriden for many years.

She was employed in the accounting offices of the former World War II Memorial Hospital, Meriden-Wallingford Hospital, Midstate Medical, and Hartford Hospital.

She was a lover of nature, long car drives, and of course, dogs. Laura has an indescribable love for her poodles and their uniqueness, especially her mini poodle Ren’e. Laura was a sweet and kind soul.

Known for her striking turquoise eyes, burnt orange hair, short 5 ft. stature and bright personality, she could work a room. If you told her your birthday, she would remember years later. She was never someone to pass judgement on others.

She was very generous to her friends and community. George and Laura loved to shop for toys together to donate to the Meriden Police Toys for Tots. Laura really knew how to make someone feel special and loved.

She loved movies and funny television. Laura especially enjoyed shows that would remind her of the essence of being a joyful child. She loved to share her life memories with family and friends.

In addition to her husband George, she is survived by her mini poodle Ren’e, her sister-in-law Dolores, brother-in-law Wally Gordon, nieces, nephews, and many friends who all loved her dearly. She is predeceased by her sisters Lauretta Sawallich, Lenora Amero, Leona Gordon and Lorraine Cuomo.

Laura’s family will receive relatives and friends to celebrate Laura's life at the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Face coverings will be required.
