Obituary: Marie 'Maria' DeMatties, 65, of Meriden

MERIDEN, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Marie “Maria” DeMatties, 65, of Meriden, passed away Monday, March 8, 2021 at Midstate Medical Center.

She was born in New Haven on October 20, 1955, the only daughter of the late Rocci & Antoinette (Constantinople) DeMatties, of North Haven.

Maria had an interest in cosmetology and was a graduate from Sunstate Academy in Fort Myers, FL.

In her spare time, she enjoyed attending community events with her friends, singing in the choir of her Baptist church, reading her Bible, styling and maintaining her daughters' hair, watching old movies and keeping in touch with her large family.

Maria leaves behind her daughters, Joanna Frieder of Cape Coral, FL, Dawnmarie Frieder of Manchester, Maria Elaina Mulhausen of Port Saint Lucie, FL, Cynthia Vallenari-Frieder of Jacksonville, FL, and Gina Frieder of Hamden.

She also leaves behind grandchildren, Sofia, Isabella, Jameson, and Jayce; as well as two older brothers, Vincent DeMatties of Wallingford and Ronald DeMatties, of Woodbridge & their families.

She was predeceased by her parents, Rocci and Antoinette DeMatties and her older brother, Rocci DeMatties of Meriden.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, April 1st, 2021 at Beaverdale Memorial Park, 127-135 Pine Rock Avenue, Hamden, CT 06515.
