Obituary: Philip L. Totzke, 74, of Meriden
Philip proudly served in the United States Air Force and worked as a mechanic for the Meriden Police Department for 25 years.

MERIDEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Philip L. Totzke, 74, of Meriden, loving husband of 48 years of Gail (Hinkley) Totzke, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 26th at Hartford Hospital.
He was born in Meriden on April 23, 1947, a son of the late Lawrence and Mary (Kane) Totzke.
He graduated Maloney High School with class of 1965 before proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He retired from the city of Meriden where he worked as the mechanic for the Meriden Police Department for 25 years. After enjoying a few years off, he again started working for the Meriden Parking Commission for 5 years until his final retirement in 2020.
Phil was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in New Britain for many years where he was heavily involved as a trustee and a member of the choir however, he was always willing to serve the Lord wherever else he was needed.
He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 0045 in Meriden. Phil was an avid gardener and loved feeding his backyard birds but above all, he was a proud father, grandfather and a very loving husband who will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife, Gail, he is survived by his sons, Christopher Totzke and his wife, Danielle of Granby and Daniel Totzke of Meriden; his sister, Mary Lou Topa of Wallingford; his grandchildren, Elijah, Caroline and Ariana; and numerous extended family members and friends.
He was predeceased by his brother, John Totzke.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 7th directly at Walnut Grove Cemetery, 817 Old Colony Rd., Meriden. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home.
