Obituary: Rose T. (Iuteri) Ferreira, 75, of Meriden
Rose was known for her generosity, strength and unwavering faith. She cherished her family, animals and was a devoted Yankees fan.

MERIDEN, CT - (From Meriden Funeral Home) Rose T. (Iuteri) Ferreira, 75, of Meriden, peacefully entered into eternal rest, Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at the CT. Hospice in Branford.
Rose was born in New Haven, November 16, 1946, a daughter of the late John Iuteri and Helen (Passariello) Iuteri and had been a Meriden resident for many years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Meriden.
She loved her church and considered Deacon George Frederick and his wife Sandy family. Rose was also affiliated with the Franciscan Life Center and owes a debt of gratitude to Sister Sophia who changed her life for the better. Rose’s faith was strong and unwavering. She prayed the rosary regularly as well as organized and held prayer groups with her friends.
Rose genuinely loved everyone and enjoyed being a light in their lives. Rose always had a compliment, a kind word or a Dios Te Bendiga (God Bless You) for anyone she came across.
She is survived by her two devoted children Lea Ferreira and her husband Steve Ruel of Meriden and Michael Ferreira and his wife Cindy of Berlin; five grandchildren Greyson Ferreira, Matthew Ruel, Alexandra Murphy, William “Billy” Murphy (wife Nervaliz “Liz” Murphy) and Nathan Murphy; three great grandchildren Noah, William Jr. and Jace Murphy; her loving sister Joanne Ludwig and her husband, Steve of East Haven; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother Anthony John “Tony” Iuteri; and her sister Margaret “Dee Dee” York and her husband Jerry “New York” Kravitsky; and her former husband, John M. Ferreira, III.
Rose was a magnificent mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She touched the lives of many with her beautiful smile and loving heart.
Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family especially, as she called them, her “wonderful kids”.
She also had a soft spot in her heart for animals and deeply loved her grand fur baby, Mario Matteo Ruel, who passed shortly before her in order to greet her in Heaven.
Rose was loved by all including her many friends from her apartment building at 60 Hanover St in Meriden.
Some of Rose’s closest and most caring friends were Al, Gladys, Kusima, Carlos, Dorothy, Joe, Robyn, Ed, Jim, Wayne, Wolfe, Kathy and David. Rose’s family are grateful for and would like to acknowledge the many strong connections she made with some of her caregivers from Coccomo including but not limited to Phyllis, Ebony, Beverly, Venasia, Kendra “Red”, Marcia, Sue, Roxanne and especially Emily Harlow, her private CNA, who Rose loved dearly and considered family.
Rose’s CT Hospice caregivers were amazing as well and helped her to remain comfortable and pass peacefully.
Rose had many favorites in her life in addition to her church, family and friends. She loved the New York Yankees! She wore a Yankee lanyard around her neck almost all the time. She watched all their games and even had an original picture of Derek Jeter framed and hung in her room.
Rose also enjoyed watching The Game Show Network. She loved Steve Harvey on Family Feud. She couldn’t decide between wanting to marry Derek Jeter or Steve Harvey.
And probably her most favorite was to play the lottery so she could win big and give everyone she knew as well as her favorite charities some money. She had it all figured out and always knew how much she would be giving away when she won. She was as generous as she was loving.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Friday, July 1, 2022, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 2, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, from the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m., when the funeral procession will proceed to Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church), where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.
