Man Fatally Struck By 2 Vehicles On Berlin Turnpike: Meriden Police
A man was killed after being struck by two vehicles while trying to cross the divided highway on the Berlin Turnpike, according to police.

MERIDEN, CT — A man was killed after being struck by two vehicles while trying to cross the divided highway on the Berlin Turnpike in Meriden on Wednesday night, police said in an update on Thursday morning.
Meriden police responded to the crash in the 1900 block of North Broad Street around 7:15 p.m. on March 27.
Lt. Darrin McKay said an investigation found that a man, who is not being identified by police at this time, was walking along the edge of the road and then tried to cross the divided highway.

The man was then struck by a yellow Chevy Silverado and then by a second vehicle (Hyundai Tucson) traveling directly behind the Chevy Silverado, according to McKay.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, McKay said.

McKay said Meriden police are working with other departments to notify the man’s next of kin, however, they have been unable to do so as of Thursday morning.
The driver of the Chevy Silverado left the scene, but McKay said the driver of the Hyundai Tucson remained at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Chevy Silverado went to the Meriden Police Department within a few hours after the crash, according to McKay.
McKay said the Silverado was impounded for further analysis, and police are continuing to investigate the crash.
The northbound lanes of the Berlin Turnpike in the area of the crash were reopened around 12:30 a.m., and McKay said there were no further traffic diversions or detours as of Thursday morning.
