Road Closures Announced In Meriden
Police are advising motorists of road closures that will be in effect for a construction project.

MERIDEN, CT — Police are advising motorists of road closures that will be in effect due to a railroad project in Meriden.
Amtrak will begin railroad crossing upgrades to two major crossings in Meriden starting the weekend of April 5 and concluding May 6, according to police.
“The work will be conducted starting on Friday evenings and continue until Monday afternoons,” police wrote in a news release. “This will require the entire crossing to be blocked. Traffic will be diverted around these locations and detour signs will be placed in the area. Please avoid the area if possible.”

The two locations will be the Britannia Street / Colony Street crossing and the Colony Street / North Colony Street crossing. There will be no vehicular or pedestrian traffic alloeed over these crossings at the time of construction. They will be blocked and a police presence will be maintained on a 24-hour basis.

The dates and times are as follows:
- Britannia Street / Colony Street will be closed Friday, April 5 starting at 7 p.m. and will not reopen until Monday, April 8 at 3 p.m.
- Britannia Street / Colony Street will be closed Friday, April 12 starting at 7 p.m. and will not reopen until Monday, April 15 at 3 p.m.
- Colony Street / North Colony Street will be closed Friday, April 26 starting at 7 p.m. and will not reopen until Monday, April 29 at 3 p.m.
- Colony Street / North Colony Street will be closed Friday, May 3 starting at 7 p.m. and will not reopen until Monday, May 6 at 3 p.m.
