Students Exposed To Pepper Spray On School Bus: Meriden Police

The students were forced to move to a new bus, according to police.

MERIDEN, CT — Students on a school bus were exposed to pepper spray during an incident after school on Wednesday, according to police.

A juvenile riding on the school bus released a “small burst from a can of pepper spray on the floor” of the school bus, according to Lt. Darrin McKay.

“This caused exposure to all of the juveniles on the bus,” McKay wrote in a news release. “There were no serious injuries, and the Meriden Fire department responded for decontamination efforts.”

McKay said the children were moved to a new bus, but many parents responded to Ceppa Field on Gale Avenue to pick their children up themselves.

The Board of Education has been notified, according to McKay.
