Suspect Accused Of Murder In Fatal Shooting In Meriden: Police
The suspect is accused of killing Beth Ndwiga, 28, this past July.
MERIDEN, CT — A 42-year-old man has been arrested on a murder charge in connection with the shooting death of 28-year-old Beth Ndwiga in Meriden on July 22, according to authorities.
Trevor Smith was taken into custody Friday morning by Meriden police, with assistance of the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force and the West Haven Police Department K9 unit.

The shooting occurred at about 10 p.m. on July 22. Ndwiga was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at the Meriden Green.
After several months of investigation along with the assistance of the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office, Meriden police obtained an arrest warrant for Smith.

According to Meriden police, Smith is a convicted felon, who is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
"The Meriden Police Department wishes to express our deepest condolences to the family of Beth Ndwiga," officials said.
Smith was being held in lieu of bail of $3 million, and was scheduled to be arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Friday.
Additionally, Smith also has an active warrant out of New Haven, which will be served at a later date, according to authorities.
