Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle While Crossing Street: Meriden Police
A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Meriden, according to police.
MERIDEN, CT — An 80-year-old woman died after being struck by a vehicle driven by a 79-year-old man while she was crossing the street Thursday in Meriden, according to police.
The Meriden Emergency Communications Center received a report around 5:25 p.m. on Nov. 6 of a possible fall victim in the area of Washington Middle School, 1225 North Broad St. in Meriden, according to police.
Police said emergency services responded and determined that the victim, an 80-year-old Meriden woman, had been hit by a motor vehicle.

She sustained “traumatic injuries” as a result and was taken to Midstate Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, according to police.
“The initial investigation revealed that the woman had been walking across Broad St. between Westfield Road and Washington Middle School,” police wrote in a news release. “The area was well-lit but visibility was limited by terrain and the nearest crosswalk was approximately 300 feet away. A 79-year-old man driving northbound in a blue 2010 Honda CR-V struck her. He briefly left the scene before approaching an officer and informing police of his involvement. He is cooperating with the investigation.”
