3-Month DOT Project Set To Begin On Route 9

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Motorists traveling along Route 9 at night are about to encounter a three-month Connecticut Department of Transportation project.

The DOT said that guide rail upgrades will be performed on Route 9 north and south in Cromwell, Berlin and New Britain from Exit 30 to 35 beginning next week. The project is scheduled to take place at nighttime beginning July 28.

The anticipated completion date is Oct. 31, DOT officials saids.

The work is being performed by Eagle Fence and Guardrail.

  • There will be right lane, left lane and shoulder closures on Route 9 north and south in Cromwell, Berlin and New Britain from Exit 30 to 35. from Monday, July 28 to Friday October 31, 2025, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Traffic control signing patterns, trailer mounted attenuators and State Troopers will guide motorists through the work zone.
  • Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
