Summer Passes For The Veterans Pool Available Starting Wednesday

MIDDLETOWN, CT – Despite hitting unexpected roadblocks at the very of the project, Cathy Lechowicz, recreation, and community services director, said they are going to make the most of the season and look forward to the next 50-plus years at the Veterans Pool and Splash Pad.

Starting on Wednesday, July 19, Veterans Pool Summer Passes will be available.

The Veterans Pool Schedule for 2023 was also released by the recreation department. Public swimming on the “rec” side of the pool is scheduled for Monday from 2:45 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday from 2:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday from 2:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday from 2:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Daily pool fees for residents are $4 for 18 and under, $6 for 18-56 years old and $4 for seniors. For non-residents, it’s $8 for 18 and under, $10 for 18-56 years old and $10 for seniors.

“It’s been a long time coming, and we’re just so excited,” Lechowicz said. “We are here for the public, and we can’t wait for people to see the beautiful facility up close and enjoy the amenities.”

On Friday, July 14, via social media, Middletown Recreation Department stated chlorine levels were unacceptable and would monitor it through the weekend. Additionally, they are doing final cleaning and calibration on the splash pad elements.

“The Parks Department maintains the Pool,” Lechowicz said. “Every morning, the pool levels are checked, and they are checked throughout the day. The health department requires certain levels to be safe for the public. We have added a backup system to ensure we can maintain adequate chlorine.”
